What is Emotional Abuse?

Emotinal Abuse means controlling and using other peoples' feelings by:

  1. criticizing
  2. embarrassing
  3. shaming
  4. blaming
  5. neglecting
  6. gaslighting
  7. insulting
  8. accusing

Relationships can be very unhealthy if a partner is emotionally manipulating or abusing their significant other. Emotional abuse can also endanger self-esteem, resulting in the loss of a healthy relationship.

Emotinal abuse makes people feel the following:

  1. Judgement
  2. Anxitey
  3. Feeling Broken
  4. Depression
  5. Pain
  6. Insomnia

Nearly half of all women (48.4%) and men (48.8%) in the United States experience psychological aggression by an intimate partner in their lifetime (8). 95% of perpetrators who physically abuse their intimate partners also psychologically abuse them
