WHAT ARE RACIAL RIGHTS

Racial rights are the rights of all people to be treated equally, no matter their race or skin color.Everyone deserves the same opportunities in school, work, and everyday life. Racial rights protect people from unfair treatment and discrimination. These rights help make communities more fair and respectful. People around the world continue working to make sure everyone has equal rights and opportunities.


WHAT DO RACIAL RIGHTS DO

Racial rights can be defined as rights that seek to protect individuals from discrimination on the basis of race or ethnicity The concept covers many areas, from educational, employment, and housing opportunities, to voting, criminal justice, and other social policies. It also helps achieve equality by mandating that discrimination be stopped and by securing the rights of all individuals to be treated equally and respectfully.


THE CIVIL RIGHTS LEADERS

  1. Martin Luther King Jr. Led peaceful protests to help end racial segregation and fought for equal rights.
  2. Rosa Parks.Refused to give up her bus seat, helping spark the Montgomery Bus Boycott.
  3. Malcolm X. Spoke out for Black empowerment and human rights.
  4. John Lewis. Marched for voting rights and worked for equality throughout his life.
  5. Thurgood Marshall.Fought against segregation in court and became the first Black U.S. Supreme Court Justice.

THE POLICE SYSTEM

Police have a duty to prevent and detect crime, maintain law and order, and protect human rights – yet all too often, they misuse their powers. From the killing of George Floyd in the United States to the extrajudicial executions of Afro-Brazilians in Brazil’s favelas and the repression of protesters in Bangladesh and Hong Kong, unlawful use of force by police has led to devastating consequences.
